+12V -12V 5A Regulated Power Supply by LM338

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

My “regulated monster” is currently running 0.5-0.6 Amps bias per Hiraga’s recommendations in the article. I tested the power supply which you may recognize as the PCB for the John Linsley-Hood simple Class A amplifier 1996 version from Williams Hart Electronics. I have upgraded the supply with LM338K TO-3 case regulators in lieu of the [...]

+8V / -8V dual linear regulators by 78L08 and 79L08

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

The power supply is a regular split-supply design based on a 78L08 and 79L08 linear regulators. I made use of a 9-0-9 transformer, which was a bit risky (very low headroom voltage for the regulators), but then my dealer didnt have a stock of 12-0-12 transformers. The output of the transformer is rectified and smoothed [...]

+25V -25V DC Power Supply

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

The schematic below shows how the +25V DC and -25V DC are obtained. In order to provide power supply for 2 stereo amplifiers, a power transformer rating of 80VA with 240V/36V centre tapped secondary winding is used. The secondary output of the transformer is rectified by using four 1N5401 diodes together with 4 electrolytic capacitors [...]
