The solid-state Tesla coil is by no means as spectacular as capacitive discharge Tesla coils but it gives just as good, or better, performance as a vacuum-tube Tesla coil. Sparks as long as 8 inches are possible with a power-line consumption of 2 amps at 120 volts (see Fig. 1), and the output reaches a peak of about 100,000 volts. Although eh average power input to the device is around 250 to 300 watts, the peak input power to the Tesla secondary coil is about 800 watts
